Mathematics
Lines - A line is one-dimensional. That is, a line has length, but no width or height. In geometry, a line extends forever in both directions. A line is uniquely determined by two points.
Line segments - A line segment connects two endpoints. A line segment with two endpoints A and B is denoted by . A line segment can also be drawn as part of a line.
Midpoint - The midpoint of a segment divides the segment into two segments of equal length. The diagram below shows the midpoint M of the line segment . Since M is the midpoint, we know that the lengths AM = MB.
Rays - A ray starts from one endpoint and extends forever in one direction.A ray starting from point A and passing through Bis denoted by
Planes - Planes are two-dimensional. A plane has length and width, but no height, and extends infinitely on all sides. Planes are thought of as flat surfaces, like a tabletop. A plane is made up of an infinite amount of lines. Two-dimensional figures are called plane figures.
Space - Space is the set of all points in the three dimensions - length, width and height. It is made up of an infinite number of planes. Figures in space are called solids.

Martin Luther King
Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was an American clergyman, activist and prominent leader in the African-American civil rights movement. His main legacy was to secure progress on civil rights in the United States, and he has become a human rights icon: King is recognized as a martyr by two Christian churches. A Baptist minister, King became a civil rights activist early in his career.[2] He led the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott and helped found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957, serving as its first president. King's efforts led to the 1963 March on Washington, where King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech. There, he raised public consciousness of the civil rights movement and established himself as one of the greatest orators in U.S. history.
In 1964, King became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end racial segregation and racial discrimination through civil disobedience and other non-violent means. By the time of his death in 1968, he had refocused his efforts on ending poverty and opposing the Vietnam War, both from a religious perspective. King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977 and Congressional Gold Medal in 2004; Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was established as a U.S. national holiday in 1986.

Taser
This week we are working on the Monessen Taser Accident. The outcome of a highschool basketball game resolted in a tremendous outbrake on Feburary 2, 2010. Security stepped up on Monday night for a girls' basketball game at Monessen High School.A boy was tasered after a high school basketball game. The district said it will have four officers, instead of the usual two, at all basketball games until further notice.Seven disorderly conduct charges were also filed Monday in connection with the brawl. The Friday night fight began at halftime of a game at Monessen's gymnasium. Police said a girl from each school started fighting in a hallway during halftime. Monessen police said the fight expanded when some Washington fans then turned on some Monessen players. Channel 11's Renee Kaminski learned that two female students at Washington Senior High along with one male student were involved in the original fight along with a 2009 Monessen graduate. Police have yet to release her name, but the superintendent of Monessen schools told Channel 11 the female graduate will soon receive a letter banning her from all school events through the rest of the year. Others were charged as well, including a Monessen sophomore who said he was hit with a stun gun and put in handcuffs while trying to escape the mayhem, which was all caught on camera. Mario Tarver and his father, Bylly Tarver, believe the officer who stunned him was too aggressive.Mario does not want to attend that school again until he get a transfer. This behavior is unacceptable because no matter what may happen police officers should never resort to violence, especially in a case where it is in a school and you are dealing with a teenager.

National Gang History
Gangs have been in existence for as long as there have been inhabitants of this world. The word thug dates back to India in the year 1200 AD and it refers to a gang of criminals (Thugz) that roamed the country pillaging towns in their course. These Thugz had their own symbols, hand signs, rituals and slang. In the United States, we grew up with tales of our own form of thugs like pirates and gangsters, therefore, gangs, undoubtedly, are not a new concept.
The Five Points Gang, led by Italian immigrant, Paolo Antonini Vaccarelli, also known as Paul Kelly and his second in command, Johnny Torrio, was the most significant street gang to form in the United States, ever! Johnny Torrio, who became a significant member of the Sicilian Mafia (La Cosa Nostra) recruited street hoodlums from across New York City to the Five Points Gang. The Five Points Gang became the Major League to many young street gangsters and a farm club for the Mafia. The most notorious recruit into the Five Points Gang was a teenaged boy of Italian descent who was born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 1899 to immigrant parents. His name was Alphonse Capone, better known as Scarface. He became a member of the James Street Gang, which was a minor league of sort, to the Five Pointers. One of Capone's childhood friends, and fellow member of the Five Points Gang, was another street thug named Lucky Luciano.
If you ask me gang is the number one issue in America, because everyone wants to be part of a certain set. If we had more role models that encouraged us young adults to strive for greatness we would have a lesser percentage of blacks behind bars.
